MovieStarPlanet, a Copenhagen-based social network for tweens with 10 million monthly active users and peaks of about 150,000 concurrent users, faced severe scalability problems: daily usage spikes and a massive TV-driven surge at Christmas 2013 exposed limits of its on‑premises infrastructure and slow hardware provisioning.
