A Amazon CloudFront Case Study
Intuit Mint faced the need to move its hosting to the public cloud to support rapid traffic spikes, improve reliability and security for 50 TB of financial data, and reduce hardware and operational costs. To meet those challenges it partnered with Amazon CloudFront (via AWS), leveraging services such as Amazon RDS for MySQL, multi‑Availability Zone deployments, and AWS CloudFormation to build a scalable, secure, and global-ready platform.
Using Amazon CloudFront’s AWS services, Mint migrated its systems to Amazon RDS for MySQL, implemented three Availability Zones, automated deployments with CloudFormation, and encrypted data shards. The results included a 25% cost reduction, automated scaling to handle a 200% seasonal traffic surge, failover time cut from ~30 minutes to 1 minute, DBAs freeing at least 15% of their time, and improved availability and security for users.
