Bandai Namco - Customer Case Study

Bandai Namco needed a scalable, easy-to-manage backend for its mobile game Drift Spirits to handle wildly fluctuating player traffic and reduce the overhead of provisioning and operating dozens of servers. To solve this, the studio turned to Amazon CloudFront as part of an AWS stack (including OpsWorks, Amazon EC2, RDS, ElastiCache and S3) to improve performance, availability, security and operational agility.

Using Amazon CloudFront and AWS OpsWorks to automate configuration, autoscale based on CPU thresholds, and quickly spin up test and production environments, Bandai Namco cut personnel and server expenses, sped release cycles, and avoided latency during peaks. The deployment supported up to a 100-fold increase in monthly active users during events, allowed nightly server reductions of around 50% to save costs, and enabled rapid, automated scaling and testing that materially reduced operational effort.
