Chime Scales Member Services and Innovates Using Amazon Aurora and Amazon EC2

Chime, the financial technology company that helps millions of people access banking services, was hitting the capacity limits of its previous hosting environment as it grew rapidly. The company needed to scale its 5 TB database and supporting infrastructure without causing downtime or risking outages for members.

To solve this, Chime migrated to Amazon Web Services, using Amazon Aurora for its database and Amazon EC2, Amazon EKS, AWS Glue, DynamoDB, and Lambda for scalable compute and data services. Amazon Chime enabled a no-downtime migration, removed capacity-related outage concerns, and helped Chime more than double its database size while speeding up operations and freeing engineers to focus on innovation.
