Thalys partners with Amadeus to sell Rail on a combined Air-Rail Display

Thalys, the high-speed rail operator serving Belgium, France, Germany and the Netherlands, faced a major distribution challenge when its partnership with Deutsche Bahn ended and threatened a significant loss of sales in Germany. To recover market share and reach business and leisure travelers through travel agencies and corporate booking tools, Thalys turned to Amadeus and its Air-Rail Display solution.

Amadeus implemented a combined air-rail display that integrated Thalys content into existing airline selling channels, enabling rail and air to be compared and booked on one screen. The rollout went live with all German travel agencies in just 14 months, recovered the potentially lost revenue, exceeded the booking target by 13%, and made nearly 100% of Thalys’ German sales paperless, improving efficiency and reducing overheads.
