Aegean Airlines, Greece’s largest carrier and a Star Alliance member, was facing rising fraud across its online and call center channels as its international business grew. With many high-risk, last-minute bookings—especially on US cards—the airline needed help reducing fraud without harming genuine sales, and turned to Amadeus and ReD for support.

Amadeus and ReD implemented a travel-customized ReD Shield fraud prevention solution with case management and reporting tools, backed by risk analysts and on-site launch support. In the first year, the solution prevented €3 million in attempted fraud, cut manual review rates from 12% to under 5%, and reduced chargeback rates to below 0.1%, while enabling Aegean Airlines to extend fraud screening to call center transactions without extra resources.
