Qantas, one of Australia’s leading airlines, wanted to create a more complete online travel shopping experience while protecting its core flight-booking process. Working with Amadeus, Qantas sought a way to add relevant third-party ancillary services such as travel insurance and car rental to its existing e-commerce channel without disrupting sales or compromising its premium brand.

Amadeus implemented cross-sell ancillary services, including Amadeus Insurance, Amadeus Cars, and later Amadeus Shopping Basket, to integrate add-on products directly into the booking flow. The results were strong: Qantas reported ROI within one month for insurance and three months for cars, conversion rates of up to 8% on insurance and 4% on cars, a 400% increase in car sales revenue, a 100% increase in travel insurance revenue, and a 66% rise in net car bookings after Shopping Basket launch.
