Case Study: Norwegian achieves global long-haul growth with Amadeus

A Amadeus Case Study

Preview of the Norwegian Case Study

New routes, new markets Norwegian goes global with low-cost long haul

Norwegian, the low-cost airline, set out in 2013 to expand from short-haul into long-haul travel while keeping fares affordable and maintaining a low-cost operating model. The challenge was to grow sustainably across new markets, manage the complexity of long-haul operations, and attract demand for new routes beyond Scandinavia. Amadeus supported this expansion with products including Amadeus eTicketing and Amadeus Altéa as Norwegian’s passenger service system.

Amadeus enabled Norwegian to distribute its fares through travel agencies with full ticketing, shared PNR, real-time availability, and smoother servicing across markets. The partnership helped Norwegian achieve strong results, including 1 in every 5 bookings coming via the agency channel, more than 25% of Amadeus agency bookings originating outside Scandinavia, 100% growth in Amadeus bookings over five years, over 110% growth in long-haul bookings since 2015, and 130% growth on US routes.
