Case Study: Hong Kong International Airport transforms check-in with Amadeus iCUSS

A Amadeus Case Study

Preview of the Hong Kong International Airport Case Study

Hong Kong International Airport and Amadeus celebrate collaboration

Hong Kong International Airport (HKIA) wanted to streamline and modernize passenger check-in, reducing queues and improving the airport experience. To support this goal, HKIA partnered with **Amadeus** on a new Common Use Self-Service (iCUSS) mobile check-in kiosk initiative, designed to transform traditional check-in into a faster, automated self-service process.

**Amadeus** implemented wireless, portable iCUSS kiosks powered by its common use cloud technology, ACUS, and the SmartCheck application. The solution lets passengers check in, print bag tags, and verify passports in one place, while allowing airlines to access self-service or full-service modes through web services without major deployment effort. HKIA expects the solution to reduce check-in queues, improve passenger processing times, save airline resources, and create a model that can be extended to other airports.
