Binter Canarias, the airline operating inter-island and international routes from the Canary Islands, needed to protect sensitive credit card data from travel agency sales and reduce the high cost and complexity of PCI DSS compliance. With daily HOT files containing full card details moving through its IT systems, Binter faced significant exposure to fines, security risk, and expensive compliance efforts. Amadeus helped Binter address this challenge with its Travel Payments / Card Data Security suite.

Using Amadeus Card Data Security Suite, Binter now has credit card data tokenized before it reaches its systems, with tokens substituted back to real card data only when needed for bank processing. Amadeus also identified card-data touchpoints across Binter’s infrastructure, helping the airline reduce PCI compliance scope, lower security exposure, and keep its existing IT environment largely unchanged. The result was a safer, more efficient setup that cut PCI compliance costs while preserving Binter’s ability to grow across sales channels.
