BeNe Rail International partners with Amadeus and joins a new community IT platform for railways

BeNe Rail International, the technology joint venture between SNCB/NMBS and NS, needed to modernize its rail distribution and customer service systems to stay competitive as new rail, air, and bus players entered the market. To address these challenges, it partnered with Amadeus and began moving toward the Amadeus Total Rail community IT platform to support multi-carrier, multi-channel rail sales and improve fare search, booking, ticketing, and trip management.

Amadeus implemented a hosted, community-developed rail platform with modules for operations, distribution, data management, settlement, and reservation front end services, while BeNe retained control of its distribution strategies. The solution was designed to reduce IT costs, shift fixed costs to more scalable variable costs, improve operational performance and customer satisfaction, and support over 10 million tickets processed each year, with expected gains in revenue, efficiency, and service quality.
