A provider of investment management services headquartered in Boston — serving clients across 25 countries — turned to Altoros to automate manual aggregation and analysis of publicly available financial reports. The customer’s challenge was to reliably recognize and extract explicit tables of contents from PDFs (many requiring OCR) so analysts could find investment-relevant information faster.

Altoros parsed PDFs into symbols, extracted geometric and formatting features, and trained classifiers (using scikit-learn, TensorFlow, and XGBoost) alongside OCR (tesseract) and a metadata extractor to detect ToC pages, map entries to actual pages, and build a searchable database.
