The customer, a US-based provider of independent benchmarking services for employee retirement planning (founded in 2007 and managing 240,000+ retirement income plans for 200+ organizations), relied on manual Microsoft Excel spreadsheets for all pension calculations. This approach was slow, error-prone, and difficult to scale, so the company engaged Altoros to build an automated retirement-plan calculation system.

Altoros implemented a modular solution composed of eight specialized calculators (using Ruby/Rails, JavaScript frameworks, PostgreSQL, and AWS) and encoded complex business logic via the Interactor pattern to handle interconnected scenarios like social security, state taxes, and defined contributions.
