A Altoros Case Study
ShoeDazzle, a California-based fashion and style service offering web-based personal styling and monthly "showroom" selections for members, faced severe performance and scalability challenges as its Ruby on Rails application served 4.5 million registered users and generated massive, simultaneous load when monthly showrooms were created. They engaged Altoros to optimize the existing solution, add features, test functionality, and transfer Ruby on Rails expertise to their development team while working both on- and off-site.
Altoros implemented an ORM-first approach—using ORM for roughly 80% of simple queries and routing complex 4–5-table queries to MySQL—alongside cloud-based servers and Rails best practices, and introduced SCRUM and continuous integration to improve development processes. As a result, Altoros significantly increased the platform’s performance during peak showroom creation, continues onsite collaboration and knowledge transfer, and streamlined ongoing development and testing for ShoeDazzle.
