The Leading SNP Detection System Company turned to Altoros to build an automated single-nucleotide polymorphism (SNP) detection solution for genome analysis. The challenge was to process terabytes of FASTA/FASTQ sequencing data quickly and cost-effectively, while determining the right hardware and cloud setup to meet a 24-hour turnaround target.

Altoros delivered a cloud-native SNP detection system using Amazon Web Services, Amazon EMR, and later Apache Hadoop on the customer’s private infrastructure. The solution unified genome analysis tools into one web application, included feasibility testing and infrastructure planning, and enabled the customer to process 150 GB of genome sequencing data within 24 hours at minimum cost.
