Leading Image Recognition System Company - Customer Case Study

The Image Recognition System faced an outdated legacy API with slow, complex queries, security risks from transmitting session IDs and credentials with each request, and compatibility issues converting JSON to XML (including CDATA). ALTOROS was engaged to propose a scalable middleware and fast search solution to connect the old API to modern rich applications and handle high-load, real-time visual search scenarios.

ALTOROS implemented a re-architecture that separates images from indexed text, moved the indexed text into a new fast-search MongoDB store, and deployed a managed computing cluster in the ProfitBricks virtual environment for live vertical scaling. The changes improved availability and performance and the system is currently undergoing load testing to determine maximum capacity, with a goal of achieving a 1-second response for 1,000 concurrent users.
