Enhancing a Healthcare System to Meet openEHR Specifications

The Leading Healthcare Open Electronic Health Record Provider, DIPS, needed help modernizing its proprietary healthcare system from the 1980s–90s to align with evolving openEHR specifications and support dynamic reporting, business intelligence, and decision-support features. The company turned to Altoros and its .NET-based expertise to accelerate the transformation while keeping the system compatible with legacy workflows and healthcare regulations.

Altoros implemented an XSLT module for converting openEHR data into legacy RTF formats, built a GDL parser and runtime by adapting the Java editor with IKVM, and added patient-data validation and Oracle BI Publisher-powered reporting. As a result, the system moved toward full openEHR compliance, gained dynamic report-building and risk-evaluation capabilities, and now supports 80,000+ medical staff across Norway, including five of the six university hospitals.
