Enabling Online Consultations via a Chatbot During the COVID-19 Pandemic

The customer, a U.S. provider of automation solutions for dental clinics and private practices (with a flagship patient management system used by around 6,000 orthodontists), faced long data upload times (1.5–12 hours), manual appointment scheduling and the urgent need for remote consultations during the COVID‑19 pandemic. They engaged Altoros to deliver a chatbot, automate scheduling, integrate online payments and improve the performance and availability of their platform.

Altoros implemented a web‑integrated chatbot for virtual consultations, built a web app to automate appointment scheduling and enable secure online payments (using browser encryption certificates), parallelized data uploads into 1,000‑entry chunks, and applied test‑driven practices plus Hangfire notifications to ensure high availability. As a result, Altoros enabled 150 clinics and hundreds of private orthodontists to offer online consultations (5,000 patients treated remotely), reduced upload times to under one minute, and freed doctors from manual scheduling so they could focus on patient care.
