Sanden Vendo America Inc., a Dallas-based vending machine manufacturer with more than 60 years’ experience, decided to bring electronic design in-house to improve turnaround, IP security and design control. The company needed PCB and schematic software that first-time users on the engineering team could adopt quickly without slowing production, so ease of use, quality, price and strong vendor support were critical selection criteria.

After evaluating several packages, Sanden Vendo chose Altium Designer for its combination of quality, usability, cost and after-sales service. Engineers used Altium to produce schematics and PCBs without extra training, completing the Glass Front Vendor—the world’s first robotic vending machine—over an 18-month program; the complex machine (six circuit boards with a 4‑layer processor board) is now in production and Sanden Vendo reports strong satisfaction with the results.
