Leica Geosystems Agriculture ran into a major problem when an outsourced PCB for its mojoRTK auto‑steer system arrived late and failed to meet design and manufacturing requirements. With a flagship product near launch, the engineering team decided to recapture and completely redesign the board in‑house to meet manufacturability, scheduling and quality demands.

By adopting Altium Designer’s integrated database libraries, MCAD‑ECAD collaboration (IGES/STEP), 3D visualization and real‑time clearance checking, the team streamlined component sourcing, reduced iterative mechanical/electrical cycles and rebuilt a manufacturable PCB. The mojoRTK shipped in January 2008, was deployed across the agriculture market, shortened development turnaround and increased the team’s productivity and output by about 25%.
