Karcher cuts subcontractor onboarding to 1 hour with Altium

Kärcher, a global manufacturer of innovative cleaning equipment, faced the challenge of managing increasing product complexity and collaborating efficiently across its globally dispersed engineering teams. The need to integrate more electronics into their machines required a better process for sharing designs and data between hardware, software, and mechanical engineers in different countries. To address this, they turned to vendor Altium and its cloud-based platform, Altium 365.

The solution implemented by Altium provided a centralized cloud workspace with Altium 365. This enabled real-time collaboration, streamlined component management with ActiveBOM to identify obsolete parts, and gave all stakeholders—including procurement and external contractors—secure access to a single source of truth. As a result, Altium helped Kärcher significantly improve efficiency, accelerate product development, and enhance cross-disciplinary transparency, culminating in the successful launch of their award-winning autonomous cleaning machine, the KIRA B50.
