CSEM completes wearable electronics in 6 months with Altium

Centre Suisse d’Electronique et de Microtechnique (CSEM) faced the challenge of developing a compact, non-invasive, portable electronic sensor interface for its ambitious BIOTEX project, which aimed to create the first biochemical sensing system incorporated into textiles. To achieve this, their electronics designers needed to create multiple interconnected boards within a very small and lightweight mechanical case, a complex task requiring seamless collaboration between mechanical and electrical engineering teams. They used Altium Designer to tackle this PCB development challenge.

The solution implemented with Altium Designer provided powerful routing capabilities and 3D visualization, which allowed for greater collaboration between departments through the import-export of STEP files. This enabled CSEM's teams to work simultaneously rather than sequentially, breaking down traditional process barriers. As a result, Altium helped the BIOTEX team complete its portable electronic device in just six months, successfully reducing the board size and capitalizing on available space to meet its ambitious project goals.
