BattleBots - Customer Case Study

BattleBots, the long-running robot combat show, needed a way to design increasingly complex, competition-ready robots while managing strict size and weight limits. The team, including electrical engineer Ricky Willems, relied on Altium and Altium Designer to support the electronics design behind the oversized “Mammoth” robot as it grew from a 12 lb prototype into a 250 lb contender.

With Altium Designer, BattleBots could scale the robot’s electrical systems quickly and efficiently, designing lightweight, durable circuitry that could withstand heavy damage while delivering more power. The result was a much larger and stronger Mammoth with eight times more horsepower in each wheel and four times the weapon power, helping the robot earn attention from BattleBots producers and compete successfully on the show.
