BAE Systems Australia, a world leader in HF radar technology, needed to develop advanced receiver and signal-processing boards for the Jindalee Over The-Horizon Radar to monitor Australia’s vast northern coastline. The project demanded high-density, multilayer PCBs with mixed high-performance RF and high-speed digital circuitry, strict analog/digital performance targets, and a rapid six-month concept-to-completion timeline.

BAE progressively adopted and upgraded to Altium Designer 6, using its unified board-level tools—signal integrity analysis, differential-pair support and automated FPGA pin optimization—along with web training and responsive technical support. The team delivered the Advanced Digital HF Radar Receiver on time, meeting performance goals and extending the JORN system’s capabilities while maintaining the company’s ability to tackle future high-frequency radar projects.
