Case Study: UWAY handles 600,000 user sessions and achieves 4× faster processing with Altibase

A Altibase Case Study

Preview of the UWAY Case Study

UWAY uses Altibase to handle the geometric rise in online enrollments, which provided UWAY with the ability to handle 600,000 user sessions

UWAY, a leader in online university application processing for many top South Korean universities, faced severe performance and reliability problems with its legacy DBMS: it could not handle peak workloads during application periods, causing disconnections, login failures, downtime and high TCO. To address these issues, UWAY turned to Altibase, deploying Altibase’s in-memory and hybrid (in-memory/on-disk) DBMS to stabilize and accelerate its entrance application system.

Altibase’s in-memory acceleration and hybrid architecture boosted processing speeds fourfold and gave UWAY the ability to handle up to 600,000 user sessions, providing uninterrupted service during peak demand and instant access to current and historical account data. The solution lowered TCO, enabled UWAY to add four additional servers, and supported broader business expansion.
