LG Uplus adopts Altibase’s hybrid architecture to monitor and detect abnormal data traffic in real time

LG Uplus, one of South Korea’s largest telecommunications companies, needed a way to detect and respond to abnormal data traffic (including precursors to DDoS attacks and heavy-data users) in real time to protect network availability and performance. To meet this challenge the company adopted Altibase’s hybrid architecture with its in-memory feature (implemented since 2009) to achieve the real-time processing speeds required.

Altibase’s solution combined in-memory processing for fast analysis with disk tables for historical data, enabling LG Uplus to analyze and detect abnormal traffic patterns in real time and act accordingly. By using Altibase’s hybrid architecture the operator avoided purchasing separate databases for historical storage, simplified architecture, and lowered total cost of ownership while gaining continuous, real-time traffic monitoring and anomaly detection.
