Case Study: Kyobo Securities achieves 24/7 availability and real-time trading with Altibase

A Altibase Case Study

Preview of the Kyobo Securities Case Study

Kyobo Securities switched to Altibase from Oracle as its legacy databases lacked constant availability and had inadequate fault-tolerance

Kyobo Securities, a leading brokerage firm in Korea, was experiencing recurring system crashes, data loss and poor performance from legacy Oracle databases. Its retail trading and fixed‑income systems lacked constant availability, real‑time search/update capability, adequate fault‑tolerance and had high total cost of ownership, so Kyobo turned to Altibase and its in‑memory database technology to address these issues.

Altibase integrated its in‑memory mode into Kyobo’s trading systems beginning in 2007 and was expanded into additional systems in 2009 and 2012, providing high throughput for mission‑critical applications. As a result, Altibase delivered constant availability and adequate fault‑tolerance, real‑time access to data and the ability to act on events immediately, and system reliability backed by Altibase’s 24/7 technical support, effectively eliminating prior system failures.
