Case Study: Korea Telecom achieves 20,000 TPS real-time vehicle sensor data processing with Altibase

A Altibase Case Study

Preview of the Korea Telecom Case Study

Korea Telecom deploys Altibase for its vehicle sensor data transmission service Altibase was chosen over other open source databases

Korea Telecom (KT), South Korea’s largest telecommunications provider with 40 million users, launched a vehicle sensor data transmission (M2M) service to give transportation companies real‑time sensor data for managing vehicles, drivers and routes. The project required extremely high database performance for real‑time monitoring and analysis, with a minimum of 10,000 TPS, and KT evaluated Altibase (specifically Altibase’s in‑memory DBMS) alongside open source options.

KT adopted Altibase’s in‑memory DBMS in 2013 after open source databases failed benchmark and support requirements. Using Altibase, KT doubled its TPS target—processing 20,000 TPS—allowing its transportation clients to better utilize sensor data, improve operational efficiency and profitability, and helping KT remain competitive in this new service line.
