A Altibase Case Study
Korea Telecom (KT), South Korea’s largest telecommunications provider with 40 million users, faced repeated failures with an open source database used for wired and wireless IT services and its mobile user authentication system. The immature product caused critical errors and data loss, lacked full SQL92 support, disaster recovery/HA and scalability, and offered poor or unavailable technical support — prompting KT to select Altibase for its product maturity, strong functionality, high scalability and industry-leading support.
Altibase was implemented as the database for KT’s Mobile User Authentication System in 2014, delivering full SQL support, HA/replication and scalable performance. As a result, KT can now serve more than 30,000 concurrent users in real time, has mitigated prior data-loss and support issues with Altibase’s 24/7 technical support, and is expanding Altibase to other mission-critical services such as its Business Support System.
