Korea Institute for Defense Analyses - Customer Case Study

The Korea Institute for Defense Analyses (KIDA) manages munitions inventory for South Korea’s Ministry of National Defense and required a fail-safe system. Its Oracle-based client–server application produced stale and inaccurate inventory data, incurred high total cost of ownership (TCO), and suffered inadequate vendor support, so KIDA moved to Altibase—deploying Altibase in in-memory mode for its Munitions Information System.

Altibase implemented a Java-based web front end with the Altibase in-memory database and active‑standby replication across servers, eliminating disk I/O for most operations. Altibase’s solution delivered measurable gains: KIDA now supports 1,500 simultaneous sessions while using 25% less CPU, provides accurate, up-to-date munitions information, enjoys lower TCO, and benefits from faster, more effective Altibase technical support.
