DOPCO switched from Oracle to Altibase to more efficiently control its SCADA systems to seamlessly handle recent and historical data in real time

Daehan Oil Pipeline Corporation (DOPCO) is a South Korean petroleum distribution company whose SCADA central command system—originally built on Oracle—could not meet business demands for real-time and historical data handling. The legacy platform suffered performance degradation from numerous terminals feeding a single DBMS, high total cost of ownership, and an inability to accurately detect and isolate pipeline abnormalities and leaks, so DOPCO switched to Altibase to better control its SCADA systems.

Altibase implemented an active-active, high-availability in-memory DBMS (deployed since 2010) to capture abnormalities and provide non-stop real-time alerts on every meter, enabling real-time collection and analysis of quantity, hourly flow rate, pressure and temperature and monitoring across 699 miles of pipeline. As a result, Altibase enabled immediate leak detection and equipment control, reduced TCO, improved quality assurance and risk mitigation (boosting revenue, profit and reputation), and was subsequently rolled out to 12 additional sites.
