Dongwon F&B, the second largest food manufacturer in South Korea, needed a real-time BI/EDW solution to collect and analyze production and sales data from its ERP quickly—Oracle took eight hours to run these processes (the company required three) and provided costly, unsatisfactory support. In 2013 Dongwon F&B switched from Oracle to Altibase, adopting Altibase’s hybrid architecture to meet its performance and analytic needs.

Altibase implemented a hybrid in‑memory/disk database that interoperates with Dongwon F&B’s BI system and processes ERP data five times faster than the previous solution, reducing collection and analysis time to two hours. Altibase’s approach also allowed historical data to be stored on Altibase disk tables (eliminating the need for separate on‑disk databases), improved technical support satisfaction, and cut total cost of ownership by over 40%.
