A Altibase Case Study
Korea Internet & Security Agency (KISA) needed a proven, high-performance database for its i-PIN online identification service (an alternative to social security numbers) that would run 24/7 with strong security and handle real-time access for millions of users. After testing disk-based DBMSs that could not meet its minimum requirement of 200,000 simultaneous logon attempts and support for 6 million users, KISA selected Altibase and its hybrid in-memory/database technology to meet these demands.
Since adopting Altibase in 2009, KISA has used Altibase’s hybrid database to achieve the required scale and reliability: handling more than 200,000 simultaneous logon attempts, serving up to 100 million users in real time, and operating without system downtime, providing the continuous 24/7 service KISA required.
