Case Study: Korea Telecom achieves an 80% reduction in server requirements and real-time abnormal traffic detection with Altibase

A Altibase Case Study

Preview of the Korea Telecom Case Study

Altibase delivers a unified solution to Korea Telecom, streamlining core systems while reducing server requirements by 80%

Korea Telecom (KT), South Korea’s largest telecom provider with about 40 million users, faced major inefficiencies in its core abnormal traffic detection, analysis and control system: tightly entangled processing led to instability under high data volumes, failed performance experiments, and prohibitively complex and costly upgrades. To address this, KT adopted Altibase’s hybrid architecture solution for its network management and traffic-control systems.

Altibase implemented a hybrid in-memory/on-disk database architecture so KT could keep hot, frequently used data in memory and move stale data to disk, enabling real-time analysis and a shift from batch to continuous processing. Altibase’s replication and active-standby features delivered non-stop service, cut active servers from over 20 to 4, reduced system resource usage by 65%, and made on-demand expansion far easier.
