Case Study: Global Telecommunications Equipment Manufacturer achieves 4,000 calls per second performance and reduced TCO with Altibase

A Altibase Case Study

Preview of the Global Telecommunications Equipment Manufacturer Case Study

A global telecommunication equipment manufacturer embeds Altibase into its equipment to exceed its minimum 4,000 calls per second requirements

The Global Telecommunications Equipment Manufacturer, an Asia-based maker of LTE Evolved Packet Core (EPC) equipment, faced a critical challenge: it was several years behind competitors and needed a database able to handle 4,000 calls per second to meet 4G LTE transaction-speed and service-quality requirements. After an in-house data module caused delays, the company selected Altibase and embedded Altibase HDB v6 (in-memory database) for a standards-compliant, easy-to-deploy commercial solution.

Altibase’s in-memory engine, built-in replication and iLoader backup were integrated into the EPC, delivering the required 4,000 calls/sec, high availability and faster development cycles. As a result, the Global Telecommunications Equipment Manufacturer regained competitive edge—becoming a major EPC supplier to SK Telecom and LG Uplus since 2011, enabling Korea’s first 4G LTE service, lowering equipment costs and total cost of ownership, and improving manufacturing efficiency and reliability.
