Star Trac launches high-fidelity fitness GUIs with Altia using 0% CPU at idle

Star Trac, a fitness equipment manufacturer, faced the challenge of developing a high-fidelity graphical user interface for its new product line that would run on a general-purpose Linux platform. The HMI needed to be visually compelling and information-rich while using minimal CPU to avoid interfering with an integrated, software-based HD video player, all under a very tight deadline to meet a major tradeshow. They partnered with Altia and its HMI development suite to achieve this.

Altia provided its DeepScreen code generator, using the altiaGL Linux frame buffer target, to create graphics code that was extremely efficient on CPU resources. The Altia engineering team worked closely with Star Trac to integrate and control the HD video player and also provided software development to add multi-language support. As a result, Star Trac successfully launched its new product line on time. The Altia solution allowed them to develop a single, reusable HMI design file for multiple machines, maximizing their development efficiency and enabling a successful global product launch.
