Medtronic speeds medical device UI delivery with Altia's reusable graphics components

Medtronic faced the challenge of creating an intuitive and pleasurable user interface for the RF generator used in its Cardioblate® and Prostiva® products. They needed a modern UI that was easy for physicians to use, keeping the focus on the patient, and they wanted to avoid the limitations of standard widget libraries which would compromise the desired look and features. Using Altia Design, Medtronic was able to rapidly prototype and experiment with the interface.

Altia's solution allowed engineers to quickly design custom GUI components and generate pure source code with Altia DeepScreen. This enabled Medtronic to finalize hardware choices and get substantial feedback, resulting in a successful product launch. The generated code now drives the displays for both medical devices. The project was so successful that Medtronic quickly developed a companion utility and plans to leverage Altia for future products, ensuring a branded look and feel while saving time over traditional code-based toolkits.
