Using Alteryx to Develop Smart Farming in Thailand

Thailand’s National Electronics and Computer Technology Center (NECTEC), through researcher Jutarat Khiripet in the Knowledge Elicitation and Archiving Laboratory (KEA), supported the government Agri‑Map initiative to modernize farming. The team faced a massive geospatial data challenge—over 100 data layers from government and open sources (vector GIS files, weather APIs, etc.)—and estimated data cleansing alone would take a 6‑person team a week per layer, creating a bottleneck for timely insights and integration.

NECTEC adopted Alteryx Designer (with Python integration) and Google BigQuery to automate spatial queries, data cleansing, layer identification, area and statistical calculations, and projection into the Agri‑Map app, and added Alteryx Server and Promote for modeling, deployment, and sharing. The solution cut processing time from about a week to two days per layer, sped up verification and partner feedback, freed staff for higher‑value analysis, and paved the way for real‑time data and predictive services in Agri‑Map.
