Charles Darwin University’s Student Experience team faced a time‑consuming data challenge: as the sole person responsible for survey setup, Wayne Franklin needed to merge multiple large data sources into three clean Excel files for the Blue eXplorance survey tool. The manual process of downloads, pivot tables, copy‑paste and formula work took one to two days per survey and introduced risk of errors, limiting what a small team could accomplish.

Wayne built an Alteryx app to automate the workflow — select the inputs and output location, click run, and the app produces the unit, student and relationship files in about a minute. The automation cut days of manual work down to seconds, reduced errors, and freed him to focus on other projects, significantly boosting productivity for the department.
