Streamlining Station Audits at Southwest Airlines

Southwest Airlines’ Quality Control team needed a better way to determine station-level audit workloads and sampling plans across heavy, intermediate, and line stations. Data needed for the monthly audits lived in disparate systems (cloud files, QuickBase, Teradata, SQL Server, Excel) and was previously stitched together with Excel, Access, PL/SQL and Python, making calculations slow, inconsistent and hard to manage as monthly workloads varied widely.

The team implemented Alteryx as a single data connector, model builder and task runner to ingest, blend and transform data from multiple sources and write results back to QuickBase. The new workflows automated joins, calculations and exports, cut development time by about 70%, enabled rapid model testing, increased data collection without overloading stations, and let analysts focus on algorithm and performance insights instead of manual data plumbing.
