Smart City Analytics For Solid Waste Management

Simple Analytics, led by data analyst Khader Ansari, developed a Smart City Analytics project to address growing solid waste challenges driven by rapid urbanization and limited financial and data resources. Regulatory bodies lacked reliable information on waste volumes and composition, and inefficient, manpower-heavy collection routes reduced productivity and posed health risks to sanitation workers.

Using Alteryx workflows, the team cleansed, blended and transformed CSV and supplemental data, then produced visual, prescriptive reports to guide routing and recycling decisions. The solution—now submitted to the municipal corporation—promises reduced fuel expenditure, shorter collection times and traffic impact, higher vehicle productivity, safer conditions for sanitary workers, and more effective, sustainable waste transportation and planning.
