SiriusXM’s Signal Delivery Group needed a faster, more reliable way to analyze large spatial datasets from drive tests to find where listeners experience radio signal outages and why — physical obstructions and interference were suspected causes. Previously the team relied on custom C#/Python tools and manual mapping in Google Earth, which was slow, inflexible, and error-prone.

Using Alteryx spatial tools they ingested GPS‑tagged drive data, aggregated points into a 15m grid, averaged signal power/quality and interference, and ran K‑centroids clustering and spatial matches to form polygons of problem areas. By filtering regions with four or more failures they reduced 1,053 points to 22 priority hotspots in Nashville, gained repeatable automated weekly reporting, faster root‑cause insights, and significant time savings with scalable workflows and improved operational ROI.
