A Alteryx Case Study
Sellafield Ltd., one of the world’s oldest and most complex nuclear decommissioning sites in the UK with over 11,000 employees, faced the challenge of making hazardous, data-heavy work safer and more efficient. They needed advanced analytics to predict the contents and risk of nuclear waste containers, surface themes in safety event logs, and produce national-scale spatial planning for 40 years of decommissioning activity.
By adopting Alteryx, the team built R-enabled sentiment-analysis workflows to turn free text into actionable themes, created no-code machine-learning pipelines that dramatically improved risk predictions for waste cans (about 100× better than random chance) and standardized disparate spatial data into an ArcGIS-ready format in hours. In 18 months these solutions boosted safety, shaved months off manual work, increased operational efficiency, and established a scalable analytics foundation for future use.
