REPUBLIQ developed the Smart City Solution for Rotterdam to help the municipality better manage its public-owned real estate (over 1,300 buildings across a city of 625,000). The challenge was to combine some 50 open and internal datasets—demographic, social and technical—to benchmark performance, reveal relationships (for example between sports facilities and public health, or school provision and unemployment) and ensure public money is spent more efficiently.

Using Alteryx, REPUBLIQ built an ETL workflow that ingests CSV, XLSX, SHP, TXT, PDF and MySQL sources, performs spatial and distance analyses by postal zone, and writes outputs to MySQL, Tableau exports and shapefiles. The repeatable solution made the analysis economically viable, delivered actionable insights to the municipality and enabled performance improvements of up to 20%.
