Natural Language Generation Made Easy with Alteryx

A large Dutch insurance company serving over 5 million clients needed to speed up its finance team’s monthly executive summaries. Finance staff were spending about four working days each month downloading many Excel files, locating the right cells, analyzing figures and producing 50‑slide PowerPoint reports — a slow, manual process Sufeng Li and his team wanted to automate using Alteryx and Natural Language Generation.

They built an Alteryx solution using an iteration macro (“Ara”) to ingest report templates and data, cleanse and merge inputs, locate target items via template labels, generate sentence outputs to Excel, and visualize results in Power BI. In the PoC this cut month‑end preparation time by roughly a week and demonstrated clear potential for further savings when scaled to similar reports.
