KPMG Netherlands’ Digital Assurance & Innovation (DA&I) team is digitizing auditing using Alteryx to build data and analytics solutions. They faced tight reporting deadlines and a large client load while receiving data in many formats (CSV, Excel, PDF, TXT), making preprocessing and manual reconciliation slow and error-prone.

The team developed reusable Alteryx macro-based workflows that use OCR to extract and structure bank-statement PDFs, preprocess and validate data, and reconcile amounts against the general ledger, with results exported and visualized via BI dashboards. The standardized, automated process reduced manual effort and errors, improved efficiency, enabled support for more clients under tight timelines, and freed auditors to focus on investigating outliers.
