IRS Uses Alteryx To Improve Data Accountability And Transparency In Government Procurement

The Internal Revenue Service (IRS) needed a faster, more accurate way to comply with the DATA Act and improve transparency in federal procurement data. Faced with rapidly growing contract volume, manual legacy processes, inconsistent or incomplete contract descriptions, and large analyst backlogs, the IRS sought an innovative solution to reduce labor-intensive validation and improve data accountability across FPDS‑NG.

ResonantLogic built a proof of concept using Alteryx Designer and Alteryx Server in under 20 days to ETL and schedule procurement data, translate validation rules into user-friendly workflows, apply NLP to assess award descriptions, and use ML plus reference checks (Dun & Bradstreet, USPS) to suggest corrections. The system generates reports and defect-trend dashboards, automates routine tasks, and has delivered measurable improvements in data quality, transparency, and significant reductions in manual hours.
