Paychex, which pays and files employment-related taxes for roughly 500,000 employers across thousands of taxing agencies, needed a faster way to find and notify clients whose agency tax ID numbers were missing. The prior workflow required manually aggregating cluster-specific reports, splitting clients into location-based spreadsheets, and emailing dozens of lists—an effort that consumed about five hours each run.

The team built a repeatable Alteryx analytic app that unions incoming reports, joins them to service-center and email data, and dynamically builds location-specific files, email subjects, and recipient lists. The app outputs spreadsheets to shared storage and sends the emails automatically; what used to take five hours now finishes in about 20 seconds and can be run on-demand, eliminating all manual steps.
