A Alteryx Case Study
Munich Airport’s Strategic Planning team faced a huge data challenge: the airport functions like a small city (36 million passengers, hundreds of businesses and services), and planning required integrating dozens of variables across many business units. Their forecasting and reporting relied on more than 50 Excel spreadsheets that were slow, fragile, and manual—crashing computers, usable by only two people and taking up to two weeks to update—so they couldn’t produce timely, reliable strategic insights.
By adopting Alteryx Designer and Server the team built a parameter-driven predictive model that integrates millions of rows, regression analyses, and reusable macros to unite many data sources and scenarios. Updates that once took two weeks now take two days, workflow setup dropped from four hours to 30 minutes, and one macro can drive ten workflows across 50+ parameters; nontechnical departments can run reports and the team used the platform for customer-intelligence (adding three perfume brands) to boost sales. They’re now migrating their largest Excel model into Alteryx to further improve forecasting and reporting.
