FLO Analytics Built a Boundary Scenario Modeling App for K12 School Districts

FLO Analytics is an 18-person GIS and data consulting firm in Portland that supports local governments, utilities, engineers and school districts. They struggled with time-consuming, ad-hoc data preparation and blending—limitations of Esri tools made standardizing different file formats difficult—and K–12 clients spent days preparing and updating student enrollment and attendance-area statistics manually, often waiting a week for new boundary-scenario results.

FLO adopted Alteryx and developed a Boundary Scenario Modeling app that combines district student information systems with attendance boundaries and Alteryx’s spatial and reporting tools. The app lets staff and committee members build scenarios on the fly and produce formatted tables, graphs and maps almost instantly, cutting data prep from days or weeks to minutes, improving result reliability, and freeing staff to develop new analytics and serve clients more effectively.
